Maylien Barrera, a
third year student of San Francisco High School, won first place in the slogan writing
contest in Math Expo 2002 held in December 2002.
Two of the SFK student-scholars were given awards
during the Division Secondary Schools Press Conference (DSSPC) held last November 2002. Maylien
Barrera of the San Francisco High School got the 7th place in copyreading and
headline writing, and Jayson Lim of Lagro High School got the 7th place in
editorial cartooning.
Francis Joseph Velarde, a
high school student, got the 1st place in the Poster Making Contest held on 08 July
2002. The theme of the contest, which was sponsored by the Division of City Schools
in coordination with the Quezon City Nutrition Council, was "Pagkain at Paglaki ay
Bantayan Upang Wastong Nutrisyon ay Kamtan"
SFK scholar Enrico Tolentino
passed the medical board examinations given last February 2002. Enrico graduated
from Our Lady of Fatima College. He has been an SFK scholar since high school. |

Francis did it again!
Francis Joseph Velarde won third prize in the "2002 International Year of
Ecotourism and Mountains Art and Design Competition". His artwork entitled "Our
Nature, Our Future", along with other entries, has been on exhibit at the Exhibition
Gallery of the Hong Kong Cultural Center, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
In the Accounting Quiz Show entitled "Minor
Attack", which is sponsored by Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants - Caloocan,
Ibrahim Varde won the second place. The quiz show was held at the
multi-purpose hall of the University of the East - Caloocan on 16 September 2002.
Ibrahim is in his first year of accountancy
course at the University of the East.
Nelson Lluz received again this
school year a full scholarship from the University of The East - Caloocan where he is
currently taking Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.

Graduates
this year -

Herbert Domingo
completed in May 2002 his Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of the
Philippines - Diliman, Quezon City where he is now teaching.

Marlon Gime completed his course in Accountancy at the University of the East -
Caloocan and now taking a review course in preparation for the licensure examination.

Among the
SFK scholars who successfully received their diploma in April 2002 are Michelle
Quirante (Business Management from the Philippine School of Business Administration),
Rosie San Antonio (Hotel and Restaurant Management from the Manila Montessori),
and Lolita Ramos (Computer Science from the University of the Philippines - Los
Baņos).

Six SFK scholars graduated from high school
last April 2002: Jason Cabaljug and Ibrahim Varde (Sergio Osmeņa Sr.
High School), Jeremy Supe and Emelloly Elesorio (Quezon City Science
High School), Romeo Labalan (Batasan National High School), and Ramiro Martos
(San Francisco High School).

Gerald Arisado (Project 6
Elementary School) and Lorenza Camboanga (Sto. Cristo Elementary School)
graduated in April 2002 from the elementary school. |
